But I think on a colorist group, the last thing you should do is start nit-picking somebody else's color work.Warner Bros. Rarely do they sit back and say, "well, maybe there's a reason for this." I think it's fair for people to be critics provided they have an informed opinion and put it in context I certainly do that on occasion on Facebook and to friends about show content, where I'll say, "oh, man, the story and pacing on this thing were terrible," and I make it clear it's only my opinion and I'll often back it up with a published review that echos some of the same thoughts. We live in a time when people are very quick to judge and criticize, and it's magnified by the power of the internet giving them a voice and an audience - whether they deserve it or not.

I have often seen opinionated nuts on YouTube go off for half an hour slamming the look of a major film, and I have to roll my eyes because I know full well there were upwards of 4 or 5 people working tirelessly on the film for weeks, under the express supervision of the director, the DP, and a room full of minions, and they got exactly what they asked for. For all we know, the director insisted on an extreme look and the colorist had no choice but to give it to them. I try to be very careful when I comment on anybody's color work, especially around here, because I know the reality is that we have no idea what conditions under which the colorist had to work.
